DAMARALAND
Damaraland is one of Namibia’s most spectacular and ruggedly beautiful regions, known for its dramatic landscapes, ancient rock art, and unique desert-adapted wildlife. This vast, untamed wilderness is home to rocky mountains, rolling plains, and dry riverbeds that support rare species like desert-adapted elephants and black rhinos. Damaraland is also steeped in history, with ancient petroglyphs and cultural sites that provide insight into Namibia’s indigenous heritage. For travelers seeking adventure, culture, and unspoiled nature, Damaraland is a must-visit destination.
Damaraland is located in northwestern Namibia, between Etosha National Park and the Skeleton Coast. It stretches across the Kunene Region, with the main points of interest around Twyfelfontein, Brandberg Mountain, and the Huab and Ugab River valleys. The nearest towns are Khorixas and Uis, but much of the region is remote and wild.
