Southern Africa now holds a special place in my heart
With so much to explore in southern Africa, Jamie orchestrated a focused, multi-destination adventure, on a moment’s notice. The 9-day itinerary spanned from desert dunes to the delta in Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. [https://wetu.com/Itinerary/Overview/5259bf41-4d23-43bc-88f1-1e99ecfd1e6e]
Namibia
Kickstarting the trip was a 6-seater flight to Sossusvlei, with the changing landscape below. The vastness of the desert was offset by the warmth of the Kulala staff. Daytime was spent venturing out on the dunes and through the skeleton forest, with nights sleeping under the Milky Way. Oryx roam free, trees mark the path of dry riverbeds, shooting stars fly overhead.
By contrast, Walvis Bay showcases Namibian marine life. Flamingoes, pelicans, and seals line the coast, with an occasional whale making a surprise appearance. A boat ride, beach lunch and dune drive made for a fun day.
Zimbabwe
Onto Victoria Falls, another striking change in the African landscape. Rainbows hover over the misty falls, red jacarandas pop along the streets. A sunset dinner at the Lookout Cafe provided a restful finish to the day.
Botswana
The grand finale was a safari in the Okavango Delta, where nature is in full surround sound. Each day held a new level of excitement, based on the animals seen from the day before and those that were yet to be discovered. The enthusiasm was equally shared among the staff at Pom Pom. Seeing animals in their natural habitat is a unique and unforgettable experience!
Southern Africa now holds a special place in my heart. I look forward to future adventures.
Thank you, Jamie!
